The Gear I Use
Here's the equipment I use to film my watch reviews, from everyday unboxings to close-up beauty shots. Nothing particularly complicated, just the tools that work for me.
CAMERA & OPTICS
Panasonic Lumix S5II
My main camera. I use the 20–60mm lens for regular videos and a 50mm lens for beauty shots.
Picture profile: Standard, contrast −2, saturation −1, sharpness −5.
White balance: Locked at 5600K, A1/G1.
Post-processing: No LUTs or additional color grading.
JJC Macro Extension Tube
I use this with my 50mm lens to get closer to the watch for detailed beauty shots.
67mm 1/8 Diffusion Filter
Helps soften the overly sharp, digital look. I mostly use it for beauty shots.
AUDIO & MONITORING
External Camera Monitor
A larger screen makes filming much easier, although I still somehow manage to miss dust on the watch crystal. I'd recommend a 7-inch monitor with 4K input support.
Microphone Audio Interface
Connects the microphone directly to my camera, keeping the audio workflow simple. No separate audio recording or syncing required during editing.
Monitoring Headphones
Very comfortable, even during long recording and editing sessions.
LIGHTING & ACCESSORIES
Studio Lights (2×)
Two studio lights, supplemented by two desk lamps: a 6500K key light and a warm 1300K background light. I also use diffusion filters to control reflections and soften the lighting.
120 × 90cm Light Reflector
Used mostly for beauty shots to bounce some extra light onto the watch from below or from the side.
